Stonnington Jazz Festival 2014 presents THE NEW SHEIKS / THE MELBOURNE RHYTHM PROJECT

Enjoy an afternoon of upbeat jazz that's made for dancing. Swinging combo The New Sheiks play vintage standards and originals in the classic style, with Heather Stewart (vocals, violin), Eamon McNelis (trumpet) and Don Stewart (trombone) buoyed by the rhythm section of Matt Boden (piano), Leigh Barker (bass) and Sam Young (drums).

The Melbourne Rhythm Project is a collaboration between the Sheiks and a group of dancers, led by choreographer Ramona Staffield. They will show their skills at tap-dancing, the Lindy Hop and more with music written specifically for this project. Already a big hit at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and the Brunswick Music Festival. Get set to dance the night away as the dancers draw inspiration from the band, and vice versa.
